The female figure is seated as she lifts a puppy up from her lap. Her pointed shoes peeping out from under a long dress, her hair with thick curls is tucked up under a head piece. This statuette, with its finely modelled details, is a delightful evocation of Greek daily life. The twenty-four centuries that separate us from this intimate moment vanish, as you relate to the sheer delight of playing with a young pup.
This votive work is highly original, and it has been difficult to find any parallel in public or private collections.
